I’ve been producing & recording music for more than TWO DECADES.
Creating music has been a journey of exploration and evolution for over two decades. Each note, lyric, and production decision reflects the culmination of countless influences, experiences, and a profound passion for sound. The growth within this artistry goes beyond the technical aspects; it encompasses emotional depth and storytelling that resonates with listeners on multiple levels.
ChipNipple (Michael Flaherty) is the epitome of a modern-day Renaissance artist, a Nomadic Music Producer, Site-Specific Sound Artist, and Visual Artist based in Brooklyn, NY.
With a penchant for the peculiar, Flaherty's arsenal includes hundreds of instruments—beaten guitars, rare organs, and even old, non-functional relics—all cherished equally. These artifacts, mixed with modern production tools and site-specific field recordings, become the dramatic heart of his pulsating, psychedelic audio works.
His creative hunger knows no bounds, akin to a bear savoring its first taste of salmon. Flaherty's sonic explorations, deeply rooted in his diverse urban experiences from New York to Portland to Chicago, blend seamlessly across genres, earning him acclaim and admiration from peers and audiences alike.
Beyond music, Flaherty's artistic universe expands into the visual realm, where he conjures wild, intense landscapes populated by strange characters and surreal entities. Through paintings, animations, and experimental furniture, he invites viewers into a realm of genuine wonder and joy, exploring themes of love, absurdity, and the human experience.
Flaherty spent five years as an artist-in-residence at New York’s Rubulad Art Space.
With over two decades of artistic exploration, Flaherty's cult following has propelled his work into mainstream attention, yet he remains tirelessly committed to pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation.
